Caretaker on Cane Farm; Giru, QLD
Are you a retired individual (or couple) looking for a rewarding lifestyle in scenic North Queensland? We’re offering a unique opportunity to become a live-in caretaker on our cane farm.
What’s On Offer
- Lifestyle: Immerse yourself in peaceful surroundings nestled in the foothills of Mt Elliot. Situated on the bank of the Haughton River, the farm has access to great fishing and is only 10 min from the nearest local watering hole.
- Accommodation: powered caravan site for your caravan or motorhome with access to 3-bedroom farm cottage (while it is being prepared for permanent caretaker accommodation).
What is required: General Farm Maintenance (10-15hrs/wk)
- Whipper snipping and ride-on mowing.
- Assisting with irrigation and running pumps.
- Slashing and maintaining machinery (tractor experience necessary).
- Ensuring sheds and common areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Weed management and general upkeep.
What We’re Looking For
- An active individual or couple with a passion for rural living.
- Reliable and self-motivated with a moderate level of fitness.
- Experience in farming and general property maintenance is an advantage.
- At least one person is comfortable operating machinery.
- Non-smokers who are neat, tidy, and house-proud.
- Dog-friendly (well-behaved dogs welcome. Please note property is unfenced).
Additional Information
This is a non-employment arrangement—an exchange of accommodation and lifestyle for light farm duties. Additional paid work opportunities available. All tools and equipment supplied.
