Description

Burton Beef is a family owned and operated company with over 35 years in the industry. We are very proud to be one of few completely vertically integrated beef businesses, doing everything from breeding and mustering, feed lotting, irrigating, processing and selling beef through our retail outlet in Broome and throughout the Kimberley.

We are seeking someone to join the small crew at Kilto Station and lend a hand with tractor driving and feed yard daily duties.

We run eight 30h center pivots at Kilto, growing mainly Rhodes grass that we cut for hay to supply our feed yards and out stations. We also have approximately 600h of dryland sorghum that we use for rotational grazing.

The feed yards is a large, well build feedlot. Now days only used to a smaller percentage of its capacity. Mainly receiving cattle from out stations, feeding on cattle for our own supply and some live export cattle.

We hope to find someone looking to keep busy, escape the cold winter months down south/over east and lend us a hand with general duties between the two areas of operation.

Some jobs/duties will include

– Feed cattle daily and checking health and wellbeing of cattle

– Unloading cattle trucks, organization of cattle yards/pens

– Small amount of record keeping

– General yard upkeep and maintenance

– Communicating with abattoir manager to organize weekly kills

– Lending a hand driving tractors when feed yards is caught up. Anything from mowing, baling, spraying, ploughing, spreading fert, carting hay in old W models, JCB operating.

Although this might sound like a full on role! We are looking for someone who is semi retired or looking to take it down a notch. Someone with a background in farming and/or cattle would be ideal to poke along and help us get the jobs done. We have a full on mustering crew that work between Kilto and our properties along the Gibb River road, they are always coming and going and will be there when things are full on.

If this sounds like you please feel free to reach out to me, preferably via email. We are open to many situations and are flexible with start and end dates/months. Kilto is perfectly situated on the doorstep of the Kimberley and beautiful Broome just around the corner for those wanting to explore while your here.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Minna Burton
