Casual Cafe employment in a remote tropical paradise, Cape York

Our 2025 tourist season begins in Iron Range, Cape York in late May.

Here at Portland Roads Out of the Blue Café and Portland House we are seeking a person(s) to be part of our team providing exceptional service in our boutique Café and tourist accommodation located at Portland Roads, a very small community 800km north of Cairns.

You will be working quite literally looking out on the Coral Sea, surrounded by National Park, stunning beaches and spectacular rainforest.  Learn more about Portland Roads and Iron Range in Cape York by visiting www.portlandroads.com.au.

Our facilities are renowned by those travelling the back roads for our great service, the Best Seafood in the Cape, and premium accommodation.

To ensure we maintain our highest levels of customer service we are seeking either:

An experienced Chef/Cook

• Who will take over the day to day running of the kitchen for our walk-in day trade.  You must have experience in short order cooking and be able to work under stressful conditions whilst being a team player.

Front of house/kitchen assistant

• An energetic friendly person to meet and greet our customers as well as helping out behind the scenes in the café kitchen and holiday house.  Adaptable easy-going person who is happy to jump between jobs when required.

• Reimbursement of airfare (travelling costs) from Cairns after successful completion of 1 month’s employment

Accommodation will be provided onsite for a single person.  If you are a couple who have your own off-road van we will supply onsite power, water, and WI-FI and would be happy for you to share the available hours on offer.

We seek a commitment of 5 months; however, a shorter time would be considered.
