"Teamwork makes the dream work”
Station Cook & Bore Runner/All Rounder
Welcome to 2024, where we're all about station life. We're on the lookout for a dynamic duo – mature, handy, friendly souls looking to call Kalmeta home for a while.
These roles are perfect for a couple who are on an Australian adventure or easing into early retirement. Whether you're up for a short stint (Feb-June) or want to stick around for the full season (Feb-Nov), we're open to your enthusiasm and dedication.
Join our small crew, a mix of both young and mature individuals from different backgrounds, making up a team of around 10-12 throughout the year.
The Station Cook – you're the friendly, kind-hearted person who brings life to our kitchen, whipping up delicious home-style meals and keeps the kitchen a warm and inviting place for our team and guests. Equally important is your ability to stay organised so you can prioritise your own wellbeing and maintain a good work-life balance.
The Bore Runner/All Rounder – you're the jack-of-all-trades, ready to tackle various tasks on any given day. Your main focus is taking care of the stock's water needs for our 12,000-head herd. When you're not doing that, you might find yourself feeding out lick, driving a truck (MR), helping the stock camp, operating machinery, mowing lawns, servicing vehicles, welding gates, or anything in between. Your role is vital to our herd's health, and the value you bring to our team is huge.
Imagine taking a quick trip down the bitumen road to a nearby river for a swim or fish during the wet season, or later in the year, you can enjoy a secluded fishing spot on the station. A few hours' drive away, you can explore various towns and scenic spots, depending on your preferences. Or simply kick back and relax on the station.
Some days, you'll be working closely with others, while other times, you might be flying solo. That's why we're looking for a couple who can thrive in both scenarios and support each other.
For everyone's well-being, we kindly ask that you're vaccinated against Covid and Q Fever before you arrive.
