Two Superstar Caretakers

We are looking for two superstar Caretakers for an immediate start at Misty Mountains Rainforest Retreat, Queensland

WHERE:

Misty Mountains www.mistymountains.com.au, is situated in the foothills of Wooroonooran National Park, south of Cairns where the World Heritage listed rainforest meets the iconic Great Barrier Reef.  If you are used to city noises this will be a treat as the only sounds, you’ll hear are early morning Kookaburras laughing and a variety of birds singing across the forest.  If you are lucky, you may see a cassowary or two, butterflies and small lizards abound. A short walk leads to a small flowing river suitable for bathing.

SALARY & PERKS:

A generous weekly allowance will be negotiated with the successful candidates depending on skill levels.  This role will provide you with plenty of time to explore Cairns and surrounding regions.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The position is a caretaking/gardening/maintenance position within a rainforest setting with a unique homestead and exclusive retreat accommodation.  No two days are the same, on average your work day will be 2.5 to 3 hours per day each, 4-5 days a week.

What skills will you need to bring to the role:

• Self-starters who work well both as a team and autonomously.
• Ability to manage the general maintenance in and around the property and accommodation as well as gardening within a rainforest property.
• Pool maintenance and cleaning as well as general maintenance of the pool equipment
• Able to demonstrate proficiency using power tools, chainsaw, and garden equipment etc.
• Ability to use a zero-turn ride on mower to a high degree of proficiency and skill.
• Ability to manage the general housekeeping for the main homestead and guest accommodation to a high standard
• Ability to be able to help in all aspects of both roles when required.

ABOUT YOU:

You will need to be physically fit as the property is not flat, a self-starter, be able prioritise work, work autonomously as well as a team.

You’ll bring:

• Flexibility to work on weekends is essential as changeover of guests can occasionally coincide with weekends.
• Willingness to live on site as part of the package
• Current Police Checks or be willing to complete one
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
• Your own ABN would be an advantage.

WHAT IS PROVIDED:

The position comes with a self-contained, air conditioned, newly renovated, furnished unit to live in. All linen is provided, along with access to laundry facilities, WiFi & Netflix.  There is also garage for your vehicle when no guests are on the property.  Phone coverage is limited but access via messenger is available.  Use of the pool, when guests are not on site.

WHO SHOULD APPLY:

This position would suit a semi-retired/retired couple wanting a lifestyle change who are non-smokers, with no pets or children, as this is a very exclusive adult only retreat.

Note: Access to the property is via a 3 km narrow gravel road within a rainforest setting, so is not suitable for either a caravan or motorhome.
